Set in a privileged location on the banks of the Aveyron river and overlooking Najac bastide, the friendly Hotel le Belle Rive has been in the Mazières family for five generations and provides an excellent base from which to explore this fascinating area.

ROOMS
23 simple bedrooms over two floors (no lift); décor is plain and furnishings unfussy. The lower-priced rooms overlook the rear of the hotel but it is worth opting for the slightly more expensive front-facing rooms offering splendid views of the river and fortress.

RESTAURANT
A large, atmospheric restaurant decorated in light tones and featuring a grandfather clock. The emphasis is on generous portions, regional cuisine and the daily-changing menu with choice is excellent value for money.

IN THE AREA
Enjoy the excellent walking trails of the Gorges de l’Aveyron. Albi, with its red-brick cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum is a must, as are the mediaeval bastides of Cordes and Najac (the latter being on your doorstep). The vineyards of Gaillac.
