This very pretty cottage is a conversion of a 300-year-old stone barn set in an attractive garden some 20m from the house of the friendly, yet unobtrusive owners. The recently refurbished property, very spacious for a couple, has a private terrace and a delightful lawned and flowered enclosed garden. Set on a hilltop it faces south among open farmland, comprised largely of arable fields and the occasional vineyard. It is a peaceful setting with the added bonus of being within easy reach of the nearest shops in Mauroux. Inside, the accommodation is comfortably furnished with a blend of styles, well-maintained and offering an inviting ambience. A really lovely property, conveniently situated for all the principal attractions of the region including Cahors (the property is in the Cahors AOC wine area) and the lower Lot valley as well as the southern Dordogne with its wealth of fascinating bastide villages. The extremely hospitable owners live next door, (Monsieur, now retired, is very well informed on the area), and will personally welcome visitors.

“Everything about the house is perfect, the spaciousness, the décor, the garden, the surrounding countryside and above all the generosity of M et Mme Gosselin.” “We were lucky enough to see the garden at its most glorious.” “We can only reiterate previous comments about the comfort and appointments of the cottage. We recommend the charming bastide of Lauzerte and Cahors itself with delightful quartier ancien.” “This was the sort of rural retreat we wanted – homely, peaceful and yet well-placed for exploring the region. M et Mme Gosselin deserve praise for their efforts to create this atmosphere taking great pains not to disturb and yet on hand to give advice and answer questions.” “We have had a great time, we highly recommend a visit to the prehistoric caves … Our thanks to our hosts M and Mme Gosselin for their lovely gifts, tasty jam and their hospitality during our stay.”
