A breakage deposit of 100€ is payable in cash upon arrival. This will be returned on the morning of departure (less charges for items not included in the price), provided there have been no breakages and the property is left in good order. The owner may, at their discretion, make a minimum deduction of 50€ from the deposit if the property is not left in good order.
Electricity (radiator in each room) is not included and must be paid for on departure.
Le Gîte de M Jousse is a 3-bedroomed cottage, sleeping 6 (+ baby), in the hamlet of Melleray-la-Vallée (Mayenne), 9km NW of Lassay (on the border with Orne), 1.5km from the river Mayenne and some 60km W of Alençon (Michelin map: 513). VFB is delighted to have featured this property since 1986. Saturday arrival.
A detached house of local stone, formerly a stable, refurbished to a good standard, and comfortably furnished, with rustic character. Well kept and well equipped, it provides a very welcoming home for a relaxing holiday in a rural location. Set in a little vale on the edge of this small community, the cottage looks south over its beautiful covered terrace (13m x 3m), with delightful views over a small lake to the left (fully enclosed) and a partially enclosed area (400m²) of well-kept lawn and gravel driveway to tree-lined meadows beyond. At right angles to it (but with independent access on the opposite façade) is another building occupied by the owner’s parents, (who pass the kitchen window on a regular basis) however there is a good degree of peace, privacy and tranquillity here. This little-known area offers a variety of sightseeing trips in Basse-Normandie, including the towns of Domfront and Bagnoles-de-l’Orne, and the coast around le Mont-St-Michel, about an hour away.
