Le Pigeonnier is a 1-bedroomed cottage, sleeping 2, 1km from the village of Pommiers (Rhône), 5km south of Villefranche-sur-Saône, 30km N of Lyon (Michelin map: 523). VFB is delighted to have featured this property since 2003. Saturday arrival.

This is a restored, fully air-conditioned pigeonnier, set in the grounds of the owner’s own home, with wonderful views over the gardens and vineyards of the surrounding Beaujolais country. High ceilings with impressive wooden beams, exposed stone walls and tiled floors blend with a stylish décor, quality fittings and decorative items (pictures, candles and lamps) to provide impeccably-kept accommodation of an excellent standard. A secluded lawned area with newly-constructed pergola looks out over the owner’s pretty garden and shared swimming-pool, with superb views to vineyards in the distance. The friendly owner lives with his wife on the spot, and will welcome all guests here. In the area, a wine lovers’ paradise with endless possibilities for wine-tasting and châteaux visits; le Lac des Sapins to the west (40km), a vast stretch of water of 38 hectares on the river Reins with marine base, beaches and horse riding centre; the Dombes region to the west (30km), with its thousand lakes, one of only ten regions in the world that welcomes so many bird species; Lyon, with its old town made up of narrow streets, pastel-coloured Renaissance buildings and intimate bistros, and the Basilique de Fourvière with its splendid views over the city. Seclusion and peace in a pretty garden with super views – a romantic hideaway for two.

·     Bedroom 1 (4m85 x 4m05) with 1 double bed (1m40, adjustable. 2 single mattresses). Wooden floor. Door to:
·     Shower room with shower. Tiled floor.

Electricity included – Oil central heating included - Bed linen included - household linen available.
 
An additional mobile oil heater can be used by guests during cold evenings – refill available on request at a cost of 10€.
 
Where household linen is available, payment should be made direct to the owner (one set will cost 20€ for two people and each additional person staying at the property pays 5€).
