Luziers Haut is a 3-bedroomed cottage, sleeping 2 + 3 under 16 (+ baby), 3km from the village of Salviac (Lot), 13km SW of Gourdon, 37km NW of Cahors, 31km S of Sarlat-la-Canéda (Dordogne), 96km E of Bergerac (Michelin map: 524). VFB is delighted to have featured this property since 2009. Saturday arrival.
500-year old stone property, set in a large grassy garden near an ensemble of similar buildings (the owners live some 100m away) on the Lot/Dordogne border, a short distance from the charming village of Salviac. Simply yet comfortably arranged, the cottage boasts a beautiful swimming pool. Much character is evident throughout this pretty little cottage, thanks mainly to exposed stonework and high pitched ceilings. A modern kitchen area forms one part of the main living/dining area and stairs lead up to a mezzanine bedroom (a second mezzanine offers further sleeping space). Outdoor living is quite delightful; a shaded terrace as well a large pool and games room will entertain adults and children alike. The setting of the property is perfect for exploring the stunning Lot Valley as well as the neighbouring Dordogne. Rocamadour, perched on sheer cliffs high above the Dordogne river attracts visitors thanks to its historical relics and breathtaking setting. Visit the fascinating mile-deep caves at Pech Merle, with origins dating back to prehistoric times. Active children will no doubt enjoy the adventure park located at Pradines while adults may prefer to sample fine wines at one of the many vineyards around Cahors.
