VFB is delighted to have featured this property since 2010. Sunday arrival.
In a commanding position amidst verdant countryside and fragrant maquis, this brand-new, secluded villa with swimming pool affords high levels of privacy and boasts glorious uninterrupted views over a sweeping valley, yet conveniently located just 15 minutes' drive away from Porto-Vecchio, Figari and Santa Giulia beach.
This superb property has been thoughtfully designed, retaining elements of traditional character while incorporating modern touches and state-of-the-art facilities to reflect the loving care with which the owners have arranged their winter home and provides accommodation of a notably high standard. Light, roomy living areas, with the emphasis on comfort and style, are very pleasant while each air-conditioned bedroom (one on the ground floor, two on the first floor) offers en-suite facilities.
Corsica’s long hot sunny days will invariably see you make a beeline for a cooling dip in the private swimming pool, set in the pretty landscaped garden, while a choice of terraces and a built-in barbecue and brand new outside kitchen area offer the possibility of alfresco dining.
Accommodation: Ground floor: open-plan kitchen/diner/living room, study, laundry room, double bedroom, bathroom/wc. First floor: double bedroom, twin bedroom, both with en-suite shower/wc.
Activities: Private swimming pool (8m x 4m) with security alarm, available 20th June to 12th September. Please note the pool depth of 1m00 - 1m70. Water sports at Santa Giulia beach (10km) and Tonnara beach (14km). Mountain bikes for hire in Porto-Vecchio. Golf de Lezza (6 holes) close to Santa Giulia, Golf de Spérone (18 holes) near Bonifacio (30km).
Services: A small supermarket is open in Sotta for basic provisions, there are also a couple of eateries, although opening times will be limited in low season. Figari has a larger supermarket open daily, bars, restaurants and a petrol station. Larger shops can be found in Porto-Vecchio. There is a fruit and vegetable market on Sunday morning in Porto-Vecchio and a general market on the first Thursday of each month, behind the Port de Plaisance.
In the area: A major attraction in southern Corsica is its glorious beaches and bays. A number of these are found near Porto-Vecchio, the most well-known being at Palombaggia and Santa Giulia, while scattered along the coastline north of Bonifacio are a selection of more secluded and private creeks. Drive up the coast road towards Sartène and witness the Rocher du Lion, an amazing natural landmark in the shape of a lion’s head formed in the rugged, rocky landscape. Dominating the distant horizon is l’Uomo di Cagna, a granite formation in the shape of a human face, accessible by foot from a number of different starting points and from where exceptional views extend across the valley down to the sea.
